我的學長 Sheldon

我的學長 Sheldon念南台工專, 畢業後到美國New Mexico State University攻讀碩士.

他對新材料開發有興趣, 大約1998畢業後, 短期在美國California & Virginia 工作過, 後來回台灣後也短期在台灣杜邦當Sales和長興化工擔任新材料開發的專案工作.

長興化工的老董有一原則: 新專案要能幫公司獲利.

Sheldon對有興趣的事會全心投入; 以前寫碩士論文時就如此了; 後來在長興化工學得如何整合一個賺錢的專案: 找外籍勞工, 找博士研究員研究製程, 找學術界討論專利方向(避美日專利) & 找地方設簡易工廠以把概念組合成真正工廠可以生產的產品, 並且所有的人都是任務編組, 並不是正式職員. 專案成功地研究出製程後, 把know-how賣出給有意生產的廠商, 包括NB BGA的材料, 現正研究軟板材質.

這幾年來, 陸續經由這種方法開發了幾個成功的專案, 賺了一億多元; 2008時的金融海嘯也沒有太多損失: 因為他的案子沒有正式員工和生產線.

現在他的太太和小孩在美國, 他在高雄阿扁家旁也有一間房子; 過一陣子想退休去和家人團圓了.

大客車駕駛訓練及考試

我最近通過自用大客車路試, 以下是我的經驗:

以台北附近的駕訓班而言, 有復興/遠東/台聯等數間, 但復興駕訓班把考生拉到鶯歌, 遠東只有一台大客車, 台聯則和宜蘭三星的龍德駕訓班合作. 我原來報遠東駕訓班, 因為網路上說蔡教練服務好. 後來蔡教練把我帶去台聯駕訓班. 我是跟著台聯的陳教練學習, 老闆是徐主任, 台聯駕訓班有一台遊覽車和一台公共汽車, 有較好練習效果.

收費大致如此: 復興駕訓班$14,000元; 遠東/台聯駕訓班$13,500元, 但去宜蘭兩次要另交$1,000元, 考驗費交$300元, 其他家是否有另收費就不知了; 後來我發現中和的北訓中心(http://www.nmvttc.gov.tw) 其實也不錯, 因為公家的訓練中心課程紮實, 我們在台聯的實駕課只有4~5周左右, 我一位一起考試的學員還只來了5次實駕, 我因為平常沒開車, 因此去了約10次.(5周, 每周2次); 台聯駕訓班的優點是地點/時間方便有彈性; (但去龍得上課的紀錄是造假的) 龍德駕訓班收$12,500元, 不知有無另外收費.

我預計三個月後去考機械常識筆試後加上北區訓練中心的"大客車職業駕駛人職前登記訓練"(600元, 每週二上課, 含午餐), 之後就可以去開公共汽車了. 要開滿三年才可以轉開遊覽車.

以下是路考的關卡: (繫安全帶)
1. S形(曲線)進退: 要訣在進入時車頭保險桿必須到達入口路寬的一半, 打方向燈, 方向盤快速向左打, 使車身進入; 在S形中, 車子先會向左轉, 此時駕駛者應看右前方小鏡, 使車身前方保險桿右側或右側的小燈和S形右側地上邊線切齊; 駕駛者利用離合器使車身緩緩前進; 當車子將轉到另一個小圓形時, 在車身前方保險桿碰到地上線約半公尺前, 方向盤快速向右打, 使得駕駛者可以利用車身前頭玻璃的中線下那一點對齊地上向左偏的邊線, 方向盤盡量不動到車子後輪離開S形區域為止(可利用後照鏡看車子後輪燈是否離開?也就是後輪有無離開S形區域), 換倒車檔; 倒退時, 先不動方向盤, 使車身緩緩向後, 駕駛者應看右前方後照鏡, 感覺車子是否安全地向後?(車子保持邊線固定距離) 當右側後照鏡看到S形的一邊邊線點時, 駕駛者眼睛須換看左側後照鏡, 注意S形左側的中間那一點, 在車子將到左側後照鏡中間那一點時, 方向盤可打2圈回正(因原來S形出去時約打2圈, 方向盤打到底共3圈), 讓車身倒車直線去接近那一點(但又有安全距離不會碾到, 約30~50公分), 將接近拋物線的頂點前, 方向盤向右可打1.5~2圈, 此時仍利用左側後照鏡看倒車是否正確?(倒車時主要利用後照鏡) 此時駕駛者須利用後照鏡微微調整車子後退的角度, 讓車子離開S形區域且可轉至考下一項路考為止.
2. 曲巷調頭: 車子保險桿開至箭頭處對齊, 打方向燈, 方向盤快速向右打到底, 使車身進入; 車子保險桿將和邊線平行時, 方向盤快速向左打到底共6圈, 駕駛者須利用離合器使車身非常緩慢前進, 保險桿將出邊線前, 方向盤快速向右打1~2圈, 此時車前輪不會壓線, 車子保險桿出邊線, 但前輪不會; 車子停住, 換倒車檔; 倒退時, 方向盤快速向右打1~2圈使車身回正和曲巷調頭邊線平行, 駕駛者利用左側後照鏡來調整倒車; 當車子保險桿和離開區域的箭頭處對齊時, 換一檔前進(方向盤快速向左), 駕駛者使車子離開此區. 離開此區時, 在車子保險桿到路寬的一半時, 打方向燈, 方向盤快速向右打, 不使左前輪壓白線.
3. 倒車入庫: 車子前進到底, 駕駛者左方有註記點, 當註記點碰到駕駛者時, 打方向燈, 方向盤快速向右可打到底, 使車子進入停車區, 駕駛者如提前向右打, 可稍微回正微調, 車子倒入區域; 離開此區時, 打方向燈, 如車子太靠左, 方向盤可向右打半圈, 使車子離開, 記得要再打回來, 車子保險桿開至路寬一半處, 方向盤快速向左打到底, 注意左後輪離開區域時不要壓白線, 駕駛者利用左側後照鏡可看到有沒有壓到? 駕駛者將車引導至下一關.
4. 路邊停車: 車子前進, 駕駛者注意前方有註記點, 讓插鑰匙時孔處對準註記點; 駕駛者身體應超過左方註記點. 打方向燈, 駕駛者身體通過左方註記點時, 方向盤快速向右打到底倒車, 駕駛者利用左側後照鏡來注意註記點, 當註記點出線時, 方向盤回正(3圈); 當車左後輪通過停車格的停車線前, 方向盤快速向左打到底繼續倒車, 車子順利停住. 此時打開車門讓路考考驗員上車. 車離離開此區域時, 打方向燈, 當車前頭擋風玻璃已離開2/3時區域, 方向盤向右打, 使車子前進到下一區.
5. 交岔路口: 打方向燈, 駕駛者利用車子保險桿右點或右側燈去壓邊線開車, 注意兩側的路寬是否相同?
6. 斑馬線: 停車讓行人優先穿越, 達定位停車.
7. 鐵路平交道: 停車察看, 達定位停車, 不可換檔.
8. 交岔路口: 打方向燈, 駕駛者利用車子保險桿右點或右側燈去壓邊線開車, 注意兩側的路寬是否相同?
9. 上下坡道+狹橋: 車子前進, 駕駛者注意左方數來第二條線和插鑰匙時孔處對準, 直線向前開, 此時駕駛者利用車子左右側後照鏡看車子是否在狹橋中.
10. 上坡道起步: 車子停住在範圍內, 通常是利用前保險桿去對地上的點; 拉手煞車. 最好關閉電扇以聽離合器的聲音; 起步時, 腳踩的離合器先放一半, 加油門, 之後再放緩緩放離合器, 此時離合器會變聲音, 放手煞車(要聽到氣聲), 離合器先不動, 加油門, 緩緩放離合器讓車子爬坡, 注意方向盤不要動.
11. 下坡道: 注意方向盤不要動, 駕駛者利用車子左右側後照鏡看車子是否在狹橋中, 駕駛者的腳離開離合器.
12. 換檔穩定測試: 考試時教練說換到2檔即可, 標準是到3檔, 注意進2檔有小技巧, 換不好會換到4檔.

長輩的故事

最近聽到一名長輩(約70歲, 陳先生)的故事, 他和我以前常去號子, 我不知道他叫甚麼名字; 他以前住新竹, 是客家人, 線在住台北.

他說有一新竹的鄰居朋友, 從海關退休; 這位鄰居當年選擇台北關, 他說基隆關太黑不敢去: 海關的查驗是如此: 公司報9個貨櫃, 但只查驗一個合格的貨櫃, 內容是廢鐵, 但其實是汽車零件. 這位鄰居退休時共有1億5千萬, 幾年前全部投入股市, 現在只剩幾百萬.

講一個大稻埕徐外科的故事: 徐外科的財產有幾億, 但以前去和人賭博, 牌翻開時一番兩瞪眼, 輸了2億, 診所都抵押給別人.

陳先生的大哥的兒子在友達當台中廠廠長, 以前友達39元時說可以進場買; 去年2010年時, 友達跌到17元時說公司快倒了, 後來漲到35元時說可以進場買, 因此陳先生就套在39元.

他高中時一位同學的老公, 民國60幾年時在台北市政府附近買了一間一樓店面共27萬, 今年年初賣了6,000萬.

我也想到我老爸老媽在民國69年時在台北市內湖大湖山莊附近買了一間一樓共165萬, 只是我的親戚們太懶惰20年前賣了400多萬, 還了貸款只剩100萬. 我想我的親戚們愛享受才會沒錢, 並不是頭腦不聰明.

他年輕時服務於合作金庫放款部經理(據我所知這職位每天都會和代書喝到掛), 也曾擔任證券公司和投顧公司職務, 他說在民國77, 78年時有一同事想買企銀股(竹企花企台企), 但是因為天天股票都漲停板買不到, 因此她掛了很多證券公司都買一張的單, 但還是買不到, 因此每天越掛越多家. 有一天接到營業員的電話說成交了, 她實在太高興了(當時行原規定不可買股票)所以告訴所有合庫的同事. 不久後響了10幾通電話--都成交在漲停板; 當天收盤跌停板. 她先生在調查局服務, 她們花了30年才把債務還清.

電子閱讀器也想取代印表機 : 一般我們會列印出一些A4紙張來看好幾次, 用電子閱讀器可以節省紙張.

在美國, 有iPad2的人中, 40%~50%的人同時擁有Kindle.

Amazon在美國賣Kindle沒賺錢; 在歐洲的市場有待觀察.

我第一次來Sabah得Kota Kinabalu (KK), 全靠Jennifer幫忙聯繫, 否則我覺得這裡的自助遊並不是如此方便, KK不是人口多的城市, 大多數的人都自己開車, 公共汽車也是半小時一班, 許多景點必須開車前往比較方便, 或包給旅行社去安排.

Jennifer原是Sibu的人, 祖父母/外祖父母在13歲那年從中國廣東移民來, 他們並不像台灣在1949前的” 台灣人”一樣, 他們是廣東人的血統(“台灣人”有87 %有原住民平埔族人的血統). 在馬來西亞的華人多數是客家人, 少數的福州人. 福州人也都會說客家話. Jennifer的叔叔曾在英國讀書, 後定居於矽谷. 海外的華人仍是注重小孩子的教育.

Jennifer在當地還有朋友, 不過他們這幾天都忙, 沒機會碰面, 我覺的海外的華人注重親屬關係, 我一直見Jennifer打電話聯絡朋友, 事實上我和Jennifer也只是在矽谷有數週的室友關係, 她的熱情招待, 還說招待不周, 讓我覺得不好意思, 這種熱情, 我只有在台灣的南部感受過, 台北人並不如此熱情. 海外的華人一旦移民到其他地方, 許多的親戚朋友也會去找, 這種關係的研究, 也是人類學把親屬關係列為文化的四大重點之一.

今天剛到, Jennifer找她弟弟載我們到Tune Hotels去住, 並載我們到處逛; Jennifer為了我也一起訂Tune Hotels, 價錢還比我貴, 我實在覺得不好意思.

我們住的Tune Hotels在1Borneo購物中心, 有免費巴士到是中心的Wasami廣場; 早上的免費巴士每小時一班, 下午則是每半小時一班; 1Borneo購物中心有麥當勞/肯德基/Starbucks, 其中Starbuks 8點開; 麥當勞/肯德基則是9點開. Tune Hotels有Starbuks 8折券可供客人免費無限制索取.

KK常有午後雷陣雨, 一碰到最好找地方躲, 一般的雨傘是沒有用的.

晚上他弟弟帶我們去夜市吃魚肚/叉燒, KK的海鮮很棒, 但他們覺的山東人的水餃/燒賣很好吃, 我則不覺得; 我小時候常在圓山吃外省人賣的水餃/燒賣, 後來一直沒碰過更好吃的了.

今天的任務是去神山(4,095m)花園. 書上說去Merdika搭車就可以, 我們去 Wasami廣場用過餐後, 問了一下人, 就走到了搭車的地方. 基本上他們會等到車子坐滿後才開車, 因此我們還等了一下, 一個人車資$15. 車子沒冷氣, 但隨著車子上神山, 溫度越來越低, 最好帶一件薄外套上去.

到了神山, 有許多澳洲人都來登頂, 他們必須參加團, 可能有的團比較貴, 他們住在園區內的小木屋; Jennifer說她 2005年來的時候, 第一天晚上是住在園區外便宜的旅社, 晚上冷得要死; 第二天早上2點起床準備攻頂, 她說她有稍為訓練過才來, 我則是一直沒有好的裝備所以沒有參加.

園區內的花園有許多奇珍異草, 想當初Wallace先生於1,958年在馬來半島寫信給Darwin先生提出他的演化論觀點, 逼得Darwin隔年便趕緊寫出物種原始的書, 時為1,859年.

世界上並不因為達爾文的書而改變人類來源的觀點, 此觀點是近50年因考古資料的大量發掘, 才使得人們把演化的足跡補足. 有一本書說到使今日美國的大學畢業生, 有1/4的大學畢業生還相信人是上帝創造的.

今天是在KK的最後一天, 這幾天受到Jennifer Kong的熱情招待, 心理有些過意不去, 因為他工作很忙, 時常要回客戶的電話, 和交代辦公室同事準備客戶資料, 因此她並沒有心情玩, 而且必須應付我的詢問. 上次見到Jennifer是10年前; 當時她去美國找工作, 住在他叔叔家, 我則是她叔叔的房客, 我放假時, 我們會和其他房客一起聊天, 談談工作和在美國的感受. 其實到美國第一代的移民誰不辛苦?當時我們如果順利在美國就業, 就都是移民第一代了.

Jennifer在911之前就回Malaysia了, 她是學Marketing的, 英文很好, 中學念教會英語學校. 她並沒有順利在美國就業, 我也在911 後回台灣. 這10年來, 斷斷續續有聯繫, 她一直在Miri工作, 買房子, 以及從事忙碌的大眾銀行房貸業務工作, 薪水不錯, 天天開車上班, 有著天主教的信仰.

今天先去McDonald/Starbucks吃早餐, 10點左右我們KK Tune Hotel check-out, 東西則放在車子後車廂, 我們先一起去Miee Sup Pipin I 吃飯, 這是當地人介紹的餐館, 在DongYanggon 上,

不知我們下次見面, 是否也是10年後? 還是此生不會再見了?

吉隆坡市中心的遊客中心在雙塔附近, 每天下午3點~4點有文化表演, 我先去利用他們免費的無線網路上網, 蒐集一下書面的旅遊資料, 時間一到就去看表演, 看表演時, 同時也有2團的韓國旅客來看. 遊客中心並贈送每位參觀者一份紀念品.

看完文化表演, 剛好又碰到剛剛那2團的韓國旅客, 他們好像不認識我, 但我認得他們, 我就先跟著他們在樓下聽導遊介紹, 接著跟他們進購物中心; 在用護照換VIP卡時, 碰到了一群台中來的公司團.

我接著就順著購物的路一直去星光大道, 說實在的, 吉隆坡沒有我想像的大. 許多地方都可以走路就到, 但如果提著一個大行李箱, 計程車或捷運會是好選擇.

Swiss Garden Golf Resort & Spa – Damai Laut

有一次幸運的中獎機會, 我決定在我的馬來西亞自助遊中加入Swiss Garden Hotel 在 Damai Laut 的住宿, 這個飯店在網路上的中文訊息不多, 我讀了一些英文介紹, 我覺得應該自己坐車去飯店是沒問題的.

說實在的, 對自助遊的旅客來說, 沒事跑這個地方是有些奇怪; 後來既然決定來這裡, 就開始想方法來. 始先是從我的Tune Hotels downtown KL坐電車來, 最方便的捷運在Sultan Ismal, 從Hotel走過來大約8分鐘, 星期天早上沒什麼人坐, 買了$1.2的票, 就到了Plaza Rakyat (Puduraya).

到了Puduraya 巴士站, 先去2F買好票到Lumut(紅土坎)巴士站, 票價$25, 外面也有野雞車, 其實在網路上有許多家客運都有著不同的時間, 我選了一個差不多的時間, 不過到場後才發現發車的時間和票價和網路上的都不一樣, 後來選了12:30PM發車. 此時應該到附近的China Town去逛一下. 我朋友說, 在馬來西亞所有的Coffee Shop都有免費無線上網, 後來我發現速食店也有.

所有的乘客都準時上車了, 但是司機大哥卻晚了半小時才發車, 這可糟糕了, 我便傳簡訊向接受我訂飯店車子的人說我會5PM到, 本想像我朋友說請她幫忙改時間, 後想一下不要麻煩人, 到時候再說好了.

果然車子晚了半小時到Lumut巴士站, 我問賣票的人問, 他說飯店巴士跑掉了, 並建議我坐計程車, 我事先問過飯店坐計程車要$50元, 因此我便打電話給飯店請他們改6:30PM, 幸運的昰, 剛好有一群家族6:30PM也要從Lumut巴士站回飯店. 後來我才知道如果沒先訂, 他們可能沒車.

6:30PM上車後, 約半小時到飯店; check-in後知道飯店的游泳池8AM~8PM; 健身房7AM~10:30PM, 另外他們的飯店巴士早上7:10AM會送客人去Lumut巴士站, 12:45PM會送客人去附近的任何地方, 我挑了本地三家中的一家購物中心, 後來走去麥當勞上網再回來4:30PM回; 我應該選本地的Tesco的(他們也有肯德基).

飯店種有許多植物, 從飯店大廳走來回到入口處要1小時又10分, 一路上有許多植物, 出租式公寓, 高爾夫球場, 來回的一路上我只碰到他們7位工作人員, 這種散步的感覺真好.

至於房間內的設備, 就是一般飯店的設備; 我建議來到這裡, 應該多使用戶外設施. 這裡的水可以生飲, 還有戶外泡茶區; 晚上在戶外可以看到星星, 但不是完全無光害的那一種.

台灣旅行團包裝的”綠中海”, 則是在Pankor島的 Pankor Laut Resort, 馬來人都知道這個地方. 前往的方法是從Puduraya坐長途車到Lumut Bus Terminal, 過馬路到對面的Pankor Water Front買票, 在旁邊還有一個旅客中心, 我第一次來Lumut時不知到這裡, 後來第二次來時雖然有時間逛逛, 但是太早他們沒開, 因此我沒辦法給任何建議.

Lumut有麥當勞/肯德基/Tesco, 如果無聊的人可以帶NB去上網/購物.

買基金?

昨天去聽戴伯儀演講, 雖然有些基金的事早就知道, 但他還提醒了一些新的觀念:

1. 理財時需考慮到時間/風險/利潤.
2. 基金的風險之一是你要去想基金公司的老闆會不會動用旗下基金們來護他自己投資的公司?
3. 基金的風險之二是你要去想基金的規模是否會大到你無法控制它的風險?
4. 據他所了解, 只有一家基金公司的老闆還滿正直得不會做#2.

我知道有一些基金公司的經理人會先照顧自己的人頭戶--買時先買, 賣時先賣.

春有百花秋有月，夏有涼風冬有雪，若無閑事掛心頭，便是人間好時節。本車30名導遊學員在李清淵老師和林同輝輔導員帶領下，在春暖花開的三月十六日早晨從導遊協會向台南高雄出發，進行為期3天的西線行程之旅。

李老師先提醒大家，導遊接機時先在機場提醒客人上洗手間、集合客人、電話連繫司機停車接客地點，勿讓客人提著行李找遊覽車，並先告知客人在後門放行李，導遊和司機在後門協助行李放置，客人從前門上車；機場有昇恆昌免稅店的櫃檯，導遊可按旅行社排定行程告知進站時間、抵台時間離台時間的班機號碼和遊客人數，店家會先製作客人的號碼牌，離台時客人便可輕易地在境外免稅店提貨；導遊接機時可順便看送機位置、客人和導遊道別的動線。導遊提前到機場等客人不但可以學習資深導遊的動線安排，有時更可避免跑錯航廈時時間不足的緊張。陸客通報表的填寫是每個陸客導遊須做的工作，空白陸客通報表和車輛檢查表和旅行社OP碰面時可一起拿，導遊可先問清楚司機的加油錢和領隊的佣金給法。

學員的演練接著展開，排定的學員講解接機時從桃園到台北的台詞，李老師補充，導遊的景點介紹除故宮分二次外，其餘皆在車上事先完成，抵達景點後，需注意買門票點、集合點和上廁所點，導遊如對景點不熟悉，可先請教司機，導遊可估尚有多少時間可準備說什麼話。

大約10點時導遊可訂餐，重點在客人幾人？司領導幾人？多少人吃素？幾點到達餐廳？客人從哪一省來？餐廳會根據客人口味調整菜的鹹淡甜酸；我們中午在周氏蝦捲吃，餐標是1人200元，通常司機導遊和領隊一起吃；午餐過後繼續驅車往安平古堡、赤崁樓和延平郡王祠，同樣地需注意動線、廁所和提醒客人抽菸。在5點抵達西子灣打狗英國領事館之前，我們可以打電話問旅社客人房號；因為領隊比較了解客人，一般房號的分配由領隊負責；導遊如果住台北時，則不和客人同住旅館，李老師會先留在大廳半小時處理客人問題，如果晚上客人有急事先找領隊。

六合夜市和愛河是高雄晚上重點，愛河乘船買船票由導遊負責；導遊可視情況將全部客人放在同一艘船並可在登船處數人頭，夜市可讓客人自由逛；晚上我們入住高雄國統飯店，導遊在打電話給旅舍時可順便問網路是否免費提供。學員晚上興致勃勃，提出許多問題請教李老師，李老師也以自身經驗和學員分享；學員欲罷不能，回房後仍有經驗分享活動。

第二天早晨，我們進高雄鑚石購物店：對導遊來說，鑚石購物難度與挑戰度都是很大的，有時客人較大方會買，有時不會，導遊可告訴客人不要有壓力；之後我們經過鄧麗君文物紀念館，剛好沒開，所以我們沒進去。接著我們拜訪蓮池潭春秋閣，中午在真北平用餐。下午前往阿里山茶葉店品茗，阿里山茶葉店所賣的茶葉皆經觀光局認證，100%台灣阿里山茶，不摻越南茶葉，品質有保障，茶葉店的老闆多是茶農後代，非常懂茶，也懂賣茶，許多人都曾得過比賽金牌獎，老闆年紀也很輕。隨後我們前往觸口看天長地久橋和龍隱寺，此停車安排也可以讓旅客抽菸上廁所，旁邊的商家購物店有許多當地土特產，可以鼓勵客人購買，活絡當地的就業和經濟。晚上我們入住新明山旅館，學員仍是興致勃勃，提出許多自身經驗和大家分享，李老師也分享阿里山小火車動線；學員回房後仍有許多討論。

第三天早晨在溪頭看旅客動線，介紹植物，享受大自然的芬多精和看大學池，映涵餐廳午餐後前往日月潭實際體驗遊客乘船路線，通常旅行社都有配合的船家，導遊要付錢給船家，我們到伊達邵碼頭附近看原住民土特產中心，有些土特產中心有邵族歌舞表演；之後我們去伊達邵碼頭乘船到玄光寺碼頭買有名的阿婆茶葉蛋，此時可以讓旅客抽菸上廁所拍照，船家會在碼頭等客人，約半小時後上船，船家會在船上介紹附近的精品旅館與邵族文化，我們在水社碼頭上岸，有些船家則在朝霧碼頭上岸，我們需先和司機約好客人的上車點。

台灣雖然沒有大山大水，但是我們有如此精巧豐富的風貌；所謂風景美不美，全在導遊一張嘴，我們心中也深深佩服李老師：除了講解功力一流之外，也不斷將台灣的文化和精緻服務推廣給大陸客人，塑造台灣的好形象。我們很謝謝導遊協會和觀光局給我們如此優質的老師和機會，也非常謝謝同學們在旅程中的經驗分享，老師一路上解答疑惑。在他身上完全看到一個旅行從業人員的專業以及尊嚴。這次西線訓練是成功順利的，可能是旅行同業競爭的關係，感覺導遊除了會講解之外還要會賣東西，這一點請要投入這個行業的同學，心理要有適當的調適，否則易失去往後的就業機會。客人購物多的話，導遊接團就會賺很多，購物不好的話壓力有可能會很大，因為以後接團少收入也會少。我們往後大多會從事專職導遊的工作，心態上一定會樂觀進取，凡事要用正面思維，並且要找一個比較正派的旅行社服務，這樣就能在這行業長長久久。

我因常常去泰國, 到去年12月共15次, 因此有一次去曼谷時我開了盤谷銀行(www.bangkokbank.com) 的戶頭.

我先去台灣駐泰國台北經濟文化辦事處(http://www.taiwanembassy.org/th/mp.asp?mp=231) 開一份認證, 因我的申請屬Rush件, 記得有加收錢, 正常程序是第一天早上送件, 第二天下午領件. 他們在一棟大樓中, 我覺得在泰國當駐外人員還滿不錯的.

拿了駐外使館的文件後, 還需要一個泰國住址, 存入500 Baht以上, 就可以拿到曼谷銀行存摺和提款卡, 我幾年後去辦事時, 把我的ATM卡換了BTS聯用卡, 現在這種卡的加值已不是在ATM上加, 而是和普通BTS悠遊卡一樣在櫃檯加值, 此卡在搭BTS捷運時比較方便.

諸位可能不知道曼谷銀行最大的股東不是泰皇, 而是華人的鄭氏家族.

另外, 我還開了KGI Securities PCL(http://www.kgieworld.co.th) 的證券戶頭, 第一次必須存入5萬Baht, 我這幾年來在泰股買賣台商上市公司股票, 獲利還不錯, KGI是台灣凱基證券(KGI)子公司, 有華人營業員李泰霖先生 (prayutp@kgi.co.th) 服務, 如果對泰國有暸解的人就知道, 泰國人不會輕易換工作, 李先生會說看泰語, 英語和中文, 我其實很少交易, 而且一般都用網路交易, 沒讓李先生賺到我的手續費, 有點不好意思.

我覺得這首鋼琴曲很好聽, 我問了她們並拷貝了曲譜, 她說這是一首韓國曲, 後來我的曲譜回台灣就不見了, 我花了好幾個小時在網路上終於找到了.

泰國國家圖書館

我找了一天去國家圖書館(National Library of Thailand), 通常一個國家的圖書館也是國力的展現.

我先在Google上找曼谷的圖書館, 可惜一些有英文書的圖書館大多要收錢, 因此我決定拜訪泰國國家圖書館.

我先找好地址, 再問旅館中的Ne-John, 她說搭MRT後換BST, 再換16號公車.

我在曼谷坐公車已有好幾年了, 其實搭公車很簡單, 最好會幾句簡單泰語. 如果不確定它是否會到你的目的地, 上車時趕快問車掌或司機也可.(車掌和司機男女都有)

國家圖書館其實有些陽春, 後面正在施工擴建, 韓國人在2F捐贈了一個文化研究室, 可惜我看不懂韓文.

館內Internet不用錢, 如果用他們的電腦則限一個小時, 許多學者也正在4F的稀有資料中心研究中, 有許多民眾在1F看報紙雜誌.

出館後我逛了一下附近的菜市場, 之後就到15號碼頭搭船回市區.

網友Evan Chen推薦此地方, 他是由當地台商的推薦而知道這個地方.

此地方是在BTS站Asok站附近, 下車後往回Central World的方向走, Sukhumvuit的單數巷子(北邊).

它在一棟大樓的地下室, 一樓是NaRaYa.

走進去之後, 裡面坐了許多小姐, 據說是上班族OL下班兼差. 猛然一看, 許多小姐長得像酒井法子年輕時的模樣.

建議進去之前, 要會說泰語; 聽說會說英語的小姐比較不好看; 另外, 進去之後點一杯自己的飲料即可($160~$180), 每個小姐都會過來聊天, 這裡的小姐並非付錢上床型的. 據Evan說, 他比較喜歡純純的愛, 這裡的小姐可以談戀愛. 感覺好像臺灣的交友中心.

通常要去時他會call台商帶辣妹來, 不過要去的那一天他認識的台商一直沒回call, 可能是喝到爛醉了, 所以我們就在胸口畫圓後寫了個勇字後就殺進去了.

進去後Evan仍繼續call他的台商朋友, 但一直打不通, 因此稍坐後我們就進去跳舞, 來的客人每個都是帥哥辣妹, 還好去之前Evan提醒我換掉我一身"歐吉桑"的裝扮.

我們因比較晚到, 被安排在角落, 但是身旁仍有許多帥哥辣妹,我對帥哥比較沒興趣, 我注意到我們旁邊的數個小辣妹, 網友Evan Chen拿起他的iPhone記下了數個小辣妹的電話號碼, 他說改天他會約她們出來玩.

一瓶Volga是$1,200 Baht, 喝不完可以寄酒, 其它的飲料包括蘇打水及七喜, 一次約300Baht.

在夜店中每天放的歌都差不多, 我們去了二晚, 一起和曼谷的帥哥辣妹high到晚上二點準時收攤.

我知道有另一家夜店在RCA, 它叫"808 NIGHTCLUB, BANGKOK", Facebook上有, 我在2007年HP Asia舉辦亞洲產品巡迴活動中去過一次, 當天入場和飲料都免費, 不過外國人佔了一半, 當地的帥哥辣妹比較少.

Channel 7 看泰拳

12月20日和網友Evan Chen一起去Mot Chi 的 Channel 7 (http://www.ch7.com) 看泰拳.

首先我們一起搭計程車去 Channel 7, Evan Chen真不愧是泰國達人, 一上計程車用泰語就跟司機(Pipi. 泰語對司機尊稱)說我們要去的地方. 一開始司機好像不知Channel 7在哪, 還打手機問朋友.

在泰國打手機很便宜, 一般有繳月費的本地人, 每分鐘都在0.5 Baht.

到了Channel 7 後, 我們就像熟客般直接殺進去, 我們先被檢查是否帶違禁品, 檢查完後被安排在外面涼亭等, 這時, 有Channel 7工作人員跑來要錢, 我們也知道不必理他. 不過後來有人跑來賣口罩, 我們就難拒絕了, Evan Chen就買了一個, 我則有自己的口罩.

我們先被安排在外面一排一排的涼亭等候, Channel 7的工作人員一直來要錢, 不過網友Evan Chen說不必理他, 過一陣子後我們和同時一起來的觀眾就被要求再往下一的地點移動.

到了攝影棚外, 我們就在那裡找了一樹蔭乘涼, 後來眼尖的網友Evan Chen說入場了, 我們就趕快進去, 不過此時裡面幾乎已經全滿了, 我們勉強找了一個免費的位子坐下來看.

如果要坐在前排, 好像要500 Baht, 我們坐的地方旁, 剛好有組頭, 因此整場他們大喊大叫, 也有許多人下注, 此種組頭在棚內到處都是, 諷刺的是, 我們前面還站了一個"policeman."

當天共比賽6場, 我們在最精彩的第五場結束後就和一些人離開攝影棚了, 如果晚一些再離開, 可能不好叫計程車了.

Cape No 7

Last night I went to a move "Cape 7" in a movie theater nearby my current company.

This movie is the best Taiwan movie I have even seen in recent years. The whole story composes of two stories: a story that was 60 years ago, and a story that Taiwanese want to build a music group in a show.

The movie location is a small town in southern Taiwan: a young guy decides to go back to his home town after dozen year struggle in the biggest city in Taiwan-Taipei. He decides to leave this place because he is not famous in this place.

When he goes back to his home town, he find a postman job. He delivers daily until one day he finds a returned package from Japan. He opens it and it tells a love story 60 years ago. A Japanese teacher and a local Taiwanese girl. In 1945 when Japan lost the World War II, the noble arrogance became shame, the Japanese teacher returned to his home town. The unchanged thing was the love for the Taiwan girl. He wrote 7 love letters in the ship returned to Japan. Each day a letter. In 2008, the Japanese teacher's daughter mailed it to Taiwan to that lady with a girl photo when he took it before 1945. Because the address was old Taiwan address, the package can not be delivered.

In another scene, a local Taiwan southern town decides to hold a music show. They decide to have local team as the beginning of that show. It is not easy to find a local music group, so they decide to form a group. In the beginning, it is not easy to do it. There are many arguments between this group. Some of them leave because of bad music skills or by an accident.

At the end, by an accident, the love story finds the 1945 girl and the postman delivers that package to that woman. The local music team also has a successful show.

There are still some untold issues in this movie. However, there is no need to give answers to them.

Why this movie touches local people's heart? Because all stories are usually seen in Taiwan, local people know this is life.

A New Life in HP Taiwan

I changed my job to HP Taiwan after my trip. The new job was confirmed before my trip.

There was nothing to do in the beginning. My project will kick off in November, so I need to pick up this culture in two months.

Many new things and culture need to learn here. I will have a short trip to Houston, USA at the end of October. I am looking forward to it.

I haven't been to USA since my 2004 trip to LA, Phoenix, and New York. I need to think what I need to buy now.

My Vietnam Trip

I planned my Vietnam trip before I quit my Job in Arima Computer, Taiwan.

I didn’t have too much time to do it because I need to do a lot before my leaving this job. I needed to prepare for the new hire processes, and also I planned to hire another person before I quit my job. To do this would ease the work loading of my successor.

Last week I was in Vietnam. This was an amazing country. It was like 30 years ago in Taiwan. It has many opportunities to become rich even you only do the traditional industry. I will put some photos later.

A Small Island Outside Taiwan

Last week I went to a small island outside Taiwan. It is located in the YuLin county. There is a Chinese version web page: http://www.tweu.net.

The island is beautiful. Only few people are at that island in the same time. Because the island is still drifting, it is not a good idea to build any house in that island.

From that island, it only takes 70 minutes to take a regular boat to PenHu. No wonder the coast guard needed to call the roll when you take a ship. I recommend people in Taiwan come to this trip. It is a new type of travel in Taiwan.

Last night I went to the show in Taipei.

The dance is from south India. I've watched this dance before. This dance strongly uses hand gesture and eyes. The performer Gopika Varma (http://www.gopikavarma.com) is good at it. The other performer Resmi Girish is good at fast hand waves and body balance. Kuchipudi Dance (http://www.indianandworldmusic.net/Dance/a009.php) is from south India.

A bad thing last night was there were too many children. Parents should not bring their children to this place. In stead, parents should be aware that if they want to have children, they should be responsible for them: to keep them somewhere else.

Leave Thailand

On Oct 23rd, I would leave Bangkok.

Since I had a diarrhea, I need to use the rest room (toilet in India)6~7 times a day. I could not stay in Bangkok any more. I need to go back to Taiwan to have enough rest.

I bought something for myself and my family. I could not carry too leavy luggages. In the airport, I found my luggage was 19.8 KGs, just a little bit lighter than required.

After I have enough energy, I need to start job hunting.

I went to that hospital at 9:00AM on Friday morning. I think every
hospital should have regular clinics at this time.

A female doctor in the Bangkok Christian Hospital

From the Internet, I tried to find "Lek Guest House." It was recommended. However, their bathroom and rest room is not in my room. It is not convenient for me because I need to use the rest room 6~7 times a day as of my diarrhea.

A single room is 190 Baht a night. It is a good deal, and I tried to get used to this place.

On Oct 20th, that is my 10th day of my diarrhea. I decided to see a doctor. I found there was a Christian hospital in front of the headquarter of Bangkok Bank. In my opinion, it should be a good hospital. I decided to see a doctor in that hospital.

Leave India

On Oct 18th, I left India.

In fact, I didn't have too good memory about this country. First, there are touts every where, especially on my first day I happened to be cheated; second, there are not too many places to eat food, so I still carried diarrhea when I left.

To survive in this country is not easy. Every time when you buy something, people try not to give you the small amount of coins. This also happens to local Indians. In Taiwan, it is of course not possible that a store manager doesn't return you $1 NTD when you buy a $9 product and you give him $10. If he doesn't return you that money. It is considered cheating.

In this country, many touts try to waste your time, they ask you what you need. If you response them every time, they will try again to provide you that service. Or they try to point you a wrong place if you want to go to the government's Delhi tourism. They try to lead you to private travel agents.

I don't know in Taiwan 30 years ago if it was like this. I have to ask my mother and grandmother.

7th Day Diarrhea in India

Today I become better, but diarrhea still exists. Tomorrow I will leave India. I hope everything will be okay with me.

I try to stay calm in my bed all day because I know there is no good drug to cure 腸胃 disease.

Today I arrive my next city in India-- Varanasi by an overnight express train. I arrived here at 7:20AM.

Fortunately, I met a Korean origin lady. She helped me out a lot. She and her Indian husband operate a guest house, so I live there. A day charge is 200 RPs. It is not expensive.

I went to the UP government travel office at noon. The sold a local map for 2 RPs. I also chatted with him for 1 hour.

I found the Hotel Alka. It cost 300 RPs a day, but the view of lobby is quite good. I will spend one afternoon there again.

I start to settle down here.

A Hell Day in Agra

Yesterday I took a local tour to Agra city to visit Taj Mahal. The local tour took 300 RPs.

Taj Mahal is beautiful, but my tour was bad. In the morning, the travel agent asked us to arrive at 6:00AM. I was there then, however, it took 30 minutes to have a guide person to pick us up.

Later he needed to "collect" more people to save $$, so we waited for one more hour to get started the road. I was asked to sit in a small seat behind the bus driver all day long. I need to blow(?) my knees all day.

We were taken to an expensive restaurant to eat our breakfast. I only ate a vegetable sandwich. Then we got started again.

At about 1:00PM, we arrived Agra Fort. They only allowed us to view it for one hour. However, a local Indian told me that we only had 30 minutes. It took 1.5 hours for us to start on the road. I have waited there for 1 hour.

Later we were taken to a local marble shop store for 40 minutes. No one could escape. Later we were taken to eat lunch. Of course, it was an expensive one. I told them that I was not comfortable in my stomach, so I escaped to eat something else to make me more comfortable.

Finally, we were at Taj Mahal, but we were allowed for 70 minutes. I hurried to finish all the processes and waited the bus on 6:00PM on time. However, we waited till 7:00 PM to get started again.

We were on our road to New Delhi. However, we were taken to a Hindi temple to see it. Actually, I have no interest now. Of course, after one hour, we got started again. After 1 hour of driving, we were taken to a Muslim temple. The way they handled it was like you were taken to a local Taiwan temple and asked you to donate $$. I didn't understand their introduction, but I thought to get home asap.

Later, we were on our road again, but now it was 11:30PM. We were taken to the same restaurant for breakfast again for resting. At 2:50AM, we arrived the New Delhi Railway Station.

If I knew it, I won't take this trip or recommend it to my friends.

Taiwan First?

Around 10 years ago, Taiwan said that it wanted to be the 6 management operation centers in Asia Pacific.

However, few days ago, when I sat in the India New Delhi MRT train, I saw a person right next to me used Samsung a cellular phone; left to me used LG one.

Taiwan was late for world competition. Should we say "Taiwan First", such as 10 years ago?

Delhi Local Tour (II)

For the past few days, I have been eating 4 times the egg curry and plain rice meal in the same restaurant. I didn't "拉肚子." (diarrhea)

I found that in the same location (restaurant), there was a local private tourism office. They didn't call customers, but they had good businesses.

Today I asked their price:
Hotel Neelam (same location, the first right lane of Main Bazar, go straight for 30 meters, if you go from the railway station)

Agra (same day tour): 300 RPs/ person, meet at their office (6:00 AM ~ 11:00PM)
Delhi (same day tour): 100 RPs/ person, meet at their office (9:30 AM ~ 6:00PM)
Jaipur (same day tour): 400 RPs/ person, meet at their office (6:00 AM ~ 11:00PM)

comparing to Delhi tourism, the price is really cheap. No wonder only rich Indians attend the government Delhi tourism tours. ( 1 day & 3 days ,etc.)

That local tour boss is very nice. If you eat a meal at that restaurant, you will notice that many local customers register at that counter. That is, they don't call customers, but customers come volunteerly. You can register one day before your tour. They close at 11:00 PM. The boss is not like other touts. To say again, I have been eating 4 times and pay my meals there, but the boss didn't ask me to attend his tours!!

I plan to take their tours to Agra & Jaipur, if my Delhi tourism cancels my 3 day triangle city tour.

One Day in New Delhi

Yesterday I spent half day in the National Museum. Their collections are quite good because I was an anthropology major. I can understand how they manage to do it.

Did you remember that few years ago there was a show in the New NTU gym? The show is the Budda's finger relics. I saw the Budda's relics in this National Museum. Some Indian monks cam her to worship those relics.

Their entrance ticket is 300 RPs for a foreigner. You can spend a long time here.

After it, I went to the India Gate to take pictures. I also saw a Taiwan tour from HWa-Tai Travel agent (http://www.gloriatour.com.tw/)

After this, I took a bus back to CP. It cost me 2 RPs. I went to the night market, as scheduled. I enjoyed a lot of the local shopping and meals.

Masala Tea

Previously I live in Smyle Inn near that main Bazar. From the New Delhi Railway Station to the Main Bazar Road, if you see RCHL Jewllers, than turn right and hit the end of that small road. Turn right and you will see it. I like to take a cup of Masala tea every day.

This morning, I also took the traditional Indian hand-made cake for my extra breakfast. It only cost me 6 RPs. I was very satisfied with it. Few days ago I took a double deck Indian hand made cake with "salsa", it only cost me 10 RPs. I will come here every day when I stay in New Delhi.

This morning I plan to go to the National Museum, New Delhi (http://www.nationalmuseumindia.gov.in) and then the Chandni Chowk shopping street in the afternoon.

Lotus temple (Bahai Temple)

From CP, you can take bus #13 from Katsurba Gandhi Marg (Southeast direction) and spend $10 RPs to get to the Kalkaji or Nehru Place. When you arrive there, please take a auto-rickshaw to go there, it won't cost you more than 30 RPs.

I have noticed that even for Indians, most travellers use travel group services. The traffic condition is not good in India.

India Tourism Bureau in New Delhi

Today I went to the India Tourism Bureau in New Delhi. They provide good information for travelers. Also, they recommend the "Delhi Tourism" ((http://delhitourism.nic.in/index.aspx), which provide many options for self travelers, such as 3 day Deihi-Agra-Jaipur program (3200 RPs, tax not included; 4175 for one person with single room, tax included), or one full day tour in New Delhi (210 RPs, tax included)

Be sure to check their "tour package" to see what options they have. If you find it, it is much better than all other private "tourist help" in New Delhi.

There is a airport shuttle bus stop nearby. It is called EATS. A trip to the airport is 50 RPs, and a luggage charged 10 RPs. Their schedule is 4:00, 5:30, 7:30, 11:30, 14:30, 15:30, 18:00, 19:00, 21:30 and 22:30. It will take 45 minutes to go to the airport, depends on the traffic condition. It closes to the Palika Barzar # 7 exit.

I bought a MRT card because I live in the Tibetan Refugee Village. I need to take MRT every day. The village is quiet and no cheating there. I like this place.

University of Delhi

I visited University of Delhi this afternoon. (http://www.du.ac.in/)

It was first founded in 1881 by English. It is older than all universities in Taiwan.

I participated some of their activities. All their classes are taught in English. They also have exchange students with America and China.

A Taiwanese I met will leave for another city tomorrow. She is only 26 years old. She has been to India alone for three times.

I will go to India Stock Exchange center in New Delhi tomorrow. It is hard for Taiwanese to buy Indian stocks, except to buy those "India mutual funds." (no profit guarantee!!)

Cheating in India

There are many cheaters on the street. On my first night, I have a feeling to go back immediately.

I was brought to a regular hotel and charged for $300 USD for one night. After talking a long time with them, I paid $100 USD for a night. On the customer lists for last night, I was the one to pay the least in 10 customers.

This morning I woke up early to escape it (6:00AM).

India was not a good place for backpackers. Everyone on the street likes to cheat you. (90%)

I found a good hotel to stay in for 2 nights in Delhi. It cost me about $220 NTD for a night.

Skin Tight is a Las Vegas show, recommended by my friend Steven Sun.

My friend Steven likes to watch various shows, including Las Vegas shows and Broadway shows. He is a smart person. I have known him since my freshman.

Skin Tight is an exotic show. First there will be some topless dancing ladies. Later there will be a singer. In the middle, a talk show man will say something interesting.

After this show, you can really feel your skin tight.

How to Learn English

It is somewhat strange that a Taiwan wrote an article like this.

Recently, our department hired a Taiwanese, whose age was 24 or so. She speaks very good English.

I asked her why. She said that after her college graduation, she joined a drama show as a actress to promote Christian in the USA. To let audience understand what she said, she cannot have her own accient. Americans around her taught her a lot about how to speak, how to let American audience understand her.

In order to have a better performance, she also needed to memorize all the conversations. After one year of training and show, she came back to Taiwan.

I heard that why Taiwanese cannot speak as Americans was because no one corrects what you said during your learning. To speak as a native, you need to have "parents" to teach you how to talk like your childhood. When we learn English, we cannot find anyone to teach us like to teach a child. That's why we always have our own accent in speaking English.

It was cold in New York on November, especially for a Taiwanese.

Statue of Liberty

It seems for everyone, who have been visited New York, needed to visit Status of Liberty.

Since 911 of 2001, US government added more security check for important construction. Visitors who want to see Status of Liberty, can only see the library and the surrounding parks.

I went to the south port of Mahannton to buy ferry tickets to there. On the same day in the afternoon, I knew that sometimes New York Visitor Center gave away free Status of Liberty tickets on off-peak seasons.

At the bottom of Status of Liberty, it is the museum of the Status. Some visitors said during summer, you need to wait for one hour for a locker, and one hour to wait on the entrance for this museum.

I had no interest on my way back to Mahannton because I was nearly an immergant for the States. For some stories, I am even better that this museum.

Guggenheim Museum

For Taiwanese, people fight for yes or no for this museum in Taichun. What a musuem it is? I was very interested on it.

The first impression of it for me was not very surprised. Do we need to spend tons of money for it?

Its tickets are more expensive than that of Metropolitum Museum. It looks like that only Europeans like people could get into it. I wonder for New Yorkers, even they are not visit here very often.

Its inerior construction was like a round pole. All stairs are sorrounding with this pole. All show room are easy to get in.

Today's show is Aztecs Emperior. All remainings were borrowed from the biggest museum in the world--the Mexico Museum. I was familiar with this kind of show because I nearly put museum study was my major when I was young.

Does it worth tens of billion NTD? I still had this question in my mind.

十一月的紐約, 對住在臺灣的人來說, 已經非常的冷了。

自由女神像

自由女神像, 似乎是對第一次來到紐約的人來說,一個必須造訪的地方。

自從2001年後, 美國加強了重要建築物附近的檢查, 遊客也只能到達神像的底座, 和附近的公園拍照而已。

要造訪自由女神像, 要先去曼哈頓島南側碼頭買票, 搭船. 後來我才知道, 紐約的遊客中心, 在淡季時, 有時會贈自由女神像的票.

在自由女神像底部, 是博物館, 紀錄了她的歷史, 聽說在夏季時, 光排置物櫃的隊就要一小時, 另外還要再排隊一小時進博物館.

搭船回程時, 我對移民博物館就沒什麼興趣了, 對美國外來移民的故事, 有些我可能比他們還熟.

古根漢美術館

住台灣的人, 最近為了要不要設古根漢美術館在打口水戰. 到底她是怎麼的一個美術館? 我也很好奇.

她給我的感覺, 是她的外觀不怎麼樣, 我們值得花數百億嗎?

她的門票比大都會博物館更貴. 難怪只看到看起來像歐洲的人來參觀. 我覺得, 連住在紐約的人都很少有人來過吧!

她的內部建築像圍繞著一個空心的圓柱而上, 參觀者隨著圓柱而上, 所有的展覽, 大都在每一層的展覽室中.

今天展的是中南美洲的阿茲特克帝國的遺物, 而這些遺物, 則是向全世界最大的博物館--墨西哥市的博物館借來的. 這些遺物對我來說並不陌生, 我以前差點把博物館學當成我的未來工作.
臺灣值得花數百億嗎? 我還是有這個疑問.
